Your Passcode

Six digits per vault, and the only way in besides your recovery phrase.

Each HypaVault vault opens with its own 6-digit passcode, entered on a minimal lock screen. Weak codes, like runs (123456) and repeats (111111), are refused.

After 5 wrong tries the lock screen makes you wait, as Wrong Passcode Tries explains. If you forget the passcode, your recovery phrase resets it: see Forgot Your Passcode.

There's no vault switcher anywhere. To switch vaults, lock and enter another passcode.

Questions About This Task

Six digits per vault, and the only way in besides your recovery phrase.

  1. No. Every vault uses a 6-digit passcode. Its strength comes from being bound to a device key that never leaves your phone, and from the growing wait after wrong tries.

  2. No. HypaVault's passcode is separate from your phone's own lock, and each vault has its own. A code you don't use anywhere else is harder for someone to guess.

  3. Not with a copy alone. Your passcode is stretched with Argon2id and combined with a device key in your phone's secure storage, which isn't in iCloud, computer or Google backups, so the vault's files by themselves aren't enough to start guessing.
