Store a Crypto Seed Phrase

12 or 24 words, hidden until you press and hold.

A seed phrase note keeps a crypto wallet's 12 or 24 words encrypted in HypaVault, hidden until you press and hold.

  1. 1Tap + and choose New Note, then a seed phrase note.
  2. 2Type the words into the numbered grid, or paste the whole phrase at once to fill it.
  3. 3Save. The words are encrypted and hidden.

To see the words, press and hold. They show only while you hold, then hide again. In the list a seed phrase reads "12 words, hidden". A secret you copy clears from the clipboard after 60 seconds.

Keep a paper copy as well, somewhere safe. Never keep a seed phrase as a screenshot: it sits in your gallery, and often in a cloud photo backup, where malware can scan for it.

Questions About This Task

12 or 24 words, hidden until you press and hold.

  1. That's how a seed phrase note appears in the list: the word count shows, the words never do. Open the note and press and hold to see them.

  2. Only while you're pressing and holding. The words hide again the moment you let go, and a cover hides HypaVault in the app switcher.

  3. Yes. If you lose both your passcode and your recovery phrase, nobody can open the vault, and the seed phrase note goes with it.

  4. Don't rely on it. Your recovery phrase is how you get back in if you forget the passcode, so it needs to live on paper outside the vault.
