HypaVault keeps your files on your phone and nowhere else, so if the phone is lost, broken or wiped, a backup is how your vault comes back. Backups are free on every plan, encrypted, and checked before they're saved.
Make a Backup
- 1Tap Back Up Now.
- 2HypaVault builds one encrypted .hypa file of the vault and checks that it opens.
- 3Save it wherever you like: Files, a drive, a computer or a cloud drive of your choice.
HypaVault doesn't keep a cloud of its own, so the backup goes only where you put it. The file carries no device, name or identity data, and its size is padded to a standard step so it says little about what's inside.
Keep the Phrase Apart From the File
A backup opens only with the vault's recovery phrase, so the file alone can't be read, wherever you keep it. It's also why the two belong in different places: anyone with the phrase can open your backups.
Restore From a Backup
- 1Choose Restore from Backup.
- 2Pick the .hypa file.
- 3Enter the recovery phrase of the vault it came from.
Restoring adds back what's missing; nothing is removed. A backup can also bring a vault to a new phone, or bring back a vault erased by a duress passcode.
Let the Reminders Help
- A reminder appears when your last backup is more than 14 days old.
- Once a vault holds 20 items, HypaVault offers a one-time backup drill to prove a backup opens. It's the easiest way to know your backup works before you need it.
Back Up Every Vault
Each vault backs up to its own .hypa file, opened by its own recovery phrase. If you keep more than one vault, run Back Up Now in each.
