Sync with Another Phone

Send a vault to another phone on the same Wi-Fi, with no server in between.

Sync with Another Phone sends an encrypted copy of a HypaVault vault straight to another phone on the same Wi-Fi, with no server in between.

  1. 1Put both phones on the same Wi-Fi network.
  2. 2Pair them by scanning each other's QR codes, or by copying and pasting the codes.
  3. 3Send the vault. If the other phone doesn't have it yet, it opens with the vault's recovery phrase.
  • The vault travels encrypted, phone to phone, with no HypaVault server and no relay.
  • If the other phone already has the vault, it gets only what's new. Deletions aren't synced.
  • It's a one-time send, not continuous background sync. The sending phone keeps its vault.
  • Sending needs Pro. Receiving a vault as the first vault on a new phone works on Free.

Questions About This Task

Send a vault to another phone on the same Wi-Fi, with no server in between.

  1. To find and sync directly with your other phone on the same Wi-Fi. It's used only between your phones, and nothing it gives access to is sent to us.

  2. Deletions aren't synced: a phone that already has the vault gets only what's new. Delete those items on the other phone too if you want them gone there.

  3. The vault travels encrypted, sealed with a one-time pairing key exchanged through the QR codes, on top of WebRTC's own encryption. Even so, use a network and devices you trust.
