Share a Vault

An encrypted copy and a one-time code, sent separately.

Share Vault gives someone their own encrypted copy of a whole HypaVault vault. You send the file and a one-time share code by separate routes, and neither opens the vault alone.

  1. 1Choose Share Vault. HypaVault makes an encrypted copy of the whole vault and a one-time share code: 25 letters and numbers in five groups of five.
  2. 2Send the file and the code separately, for example the file by email and the code in person.
  3. 3The recipient imports it into HypaVault with their own passcode and a new recovery phrase.

As it comes in, every file is re-encrypted with new keys, so the original file and code can no longer open their copy. It's a snapshot, not a link: later changes aren't shared, and the file carries no device or name data.

Anyone who has both the file and the code can open the copy, so share only with someone you trust and keep the two apart on the way.

Questions About This Task

An encrypted copy and a one-time code, sent separately.

  1. No. Once it's imported it becomes the recipient's own vault, re-encrypted with new keys, and later changes on your side never reach it.

  2. No. The recipient sets their own passcode and gets a new recovery phrase, so your passcode and phrase are never part of the share.

  3. Yes. Share Vault makes a copy, and your vault stays on your phone as it was.

  4. The file is encrypted and carries no device or name data, so the email alone can't open anything. Send the code by a different route, such as in person.
