Set Up Stealth Mode

A lock screen that works as a calculator or alarm clock, with a matching icon.

Stealth Mode makes HypaVault's lock screen a working calculator or alarm clock, with a matching app icon, so the app passes for an ordinary utility.

  1. 1Open Settings › Stealth Mode.
  2. 2Choose a lock screen: Light, Dark, Calculator or Clock.
  3. 3Pick the matching app icon when HypaVault offers it: HypaVault, Calculator or Clock.
  • Calculator: a fully working calculator. To unlock, type your passcode and press =.
  • Clock: an alarm clock's Alarms screen. To unlock, tap +, type your passcode as the alarm time and tap Save.
  • For recovery options, press and hold the calculator's display or the Alarms title.

On iPhone the icon changes but the name under it stays Hypa, and iOS asks you to confirm. On Android both the icon and the name change. In the app switcher, the disguise shows instead of the vault.

Practise once before you rely on it: lock the app and open the vault through the disguise, so you know the unlock before you need it.

Questions About This Task

A lock screen that works as a calculator or alarm clock, with a matching icon.

  1. It works like any calculator, with order of operations, %, ± and delete. Only your passcode followed by = opens the vault; any other sum is just arithmetic.

  2. It just sets an alarm, as on any alarm clock. Only your passcode entered as the alarm time opens the vault.

  3. Not necessarily. It changes how the app looks while it's locked, and someone who examines the phone closely may still find it. Your files stay encrypted either way.

  4. The lock screen goes back to the plain passcode screen and the icon to HypaVault. Your vaults and their passcodes aren't affected.
